Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a computer teacher that teaches K-6. We are a Title 1 school. Our population is about 85% Hispanic students. Our school currently holds about 700 students. I see everyone of them on a weekly basis. We are grateful that we can get certain things through the federal government, but a lot of it has to do with after school programs helping struggling student.

Every week they come to the computer lab to learn different skills on the computer. One website that they go to is called www.earobics.com. This website has several learning games for kindergartens and then on up to the higher grades. It requires them to listen to what it says to determine what to do next. Some of the games are poetry, similes, antonyms, building sentences, etc. We have other websites that they can go to but the problem we have is that they all want to turn their volumes up and then nobody can hear.

This is a valuable resource as the students can keep using the headphones as they go on to the other grades. The headphones will stay with them. This also helps prevent lice outbreaks if all students have their own.

With your help we can provide headphones to kindergartners and each year do the same process to where the headphones go with the student throughout their elementary years.
