Bass Chimes for Primetime

My students need a sub-contra C bass chime bar and a contra bass F bar to accommodate their physical challenges and to provide musical experiences through sound vibrations.

I teach more than 350 students who represent a wide spectrum of academic, physical and economic challenges with limited supplies and budget. My content area is general music. Twice a week I see all students in grades K-5. We have students who are limited to wheelchair mobility, students with hearing and visual impairments, and many students who struggle to process information. While the students are placed in a chronological grade setting, they are not all able to maintain skill levels within those grades. By adding bass chime bars, I would have a special resource to provide for the challenged students.

My current situation is that I am required to teach content standards according to State benchmarks and grade levels. I make accommodations but have very limited resources that are adaptable to certain physical handicaps, and no resources to use in the performance venues.

The bass chimes are a single pitched instrument. The size of the bar is about 30 times larger than the other classroom instruments - making it much easier to strike. The mallets used to play the chime bars are weighted, assisting the physical movement needed to strike the bar. I would be thrilled to receive the sub-contra C bass chime, and extremely grateful if I received both the C and F pitched bars. It trains the child's ear if they sing in different key signatures.
