My English learning students need 5 tape recorders and 4 sets of cassette read-alongs.

My family of 2nd grade students (Iraqis, Somalians, Mexicans, Afghani, and Albanian...) all love to read as buddies. We would like tape recorders to share our books and reading aloud with our non-English speaking parents who are also our big buddies.

Our reading fluency is hampered when parents want their children to acquire English but they do not speak English well. Tape recorders with books on tape would be a great benefit to our English as a Second Language (ESL) students and parents.

Tape recorders and books on tape will be a great modeling device to build word recognition, vocabulary, and reading fluency. It will also allow parents of ESL students to listen to stories with their children and hear their children reading aloud.

Help make a difference to our newest American citizens by promoting literacy in the home as well as in school.
