I am a first grade teacher at a title one school in N.C. In my classroom there are 20 students who are eager to learn and master new math concepts everyday. Many students are struggling with a few math concepts that we have already covered such as addition , tens and ones, and time. I feel with the proper review tools I could help my students master these skills. If they do not understand basic math concepts, they will not be ready for new math topics and ideas in the future.

In our room we work on math centers everyday. Many students finish their centers early and then they are ready for another task. The task they need to work on would be reviewing math skills that we have covered in the past. This would allow them to have a strong foundation to build other skills on. This review process is hard for me to give them because the students need activities to work on that they can complete by themselves, so I can continue to work with my small math group.

In order for me to give my students this independent practice they could use some math review puzzles to work on. There are two sets of math review puzzles that would be perfect for our class. The puzzles are challenging for the students but they are easy to understand and the students could complete the activities alone or with a partner. These puzzles would review concepts such as tens and ones, time, money, measurement, addition and subtraction. This would be an excellent review and practice for the students in my class to complete after centers. Plus, it would be a fun way to make math and learning more exciting!

By fulfilling our request you would be helping prepare 20 first grade students for math in second grade. The math puzzles would be fun extra activities and a great review of concepts we have covered in the past. The puzzles would allow students to have independent practice and this would help them become math wizards. Thank you for helping to make our dreams come true!
