Jump Into Literacy with our classroom library. My classroom includes 4 and 5 year olds. I really think literacy is important and we encourage our children to read every night. I firmly believe that literacy within the child starts in Pre-K. I am a Pre-K teacher in a four year old classroom. I believe that literacy is important at this early age. It is a foundation for a future success, after 13 years of teaching young children, I has become very clear that literacy is very important.

My assistant and I bought books at yard sales over the summer. However, we have collected some books, but not enough to keep the children reading every night. We are slowly running out of books they have not read. But we keep digging to keep it going. Even after working 13 years at this center, I am still passionate that reading sets the foundation to a great future.

Each night the children take home a book to read. The adult or older child that keeps the child in the evening have to read the book to the Pre-K student and sign a log. The book and log are returned the next day and they take home a new one. We need lots of books that will give the children a head start to successful. I use this program to keep them interested in reading and to help each and every child succeed in reading.

Your help will ensure that my students will succeed whole-heartedly. If we receive this grant, we would have new books for them to take home the rest of the year. I know the students will take great care of them and we would be able to better this program and continue our reading library. We would also take very good of the books, so they will last for many years to com.
