Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Ready...set...learn! I teach a group of energetic first graders. They are learning to read and love sharing big books together. The children are discovering their "inner stories" as they grow as writers. Having a large area to display books and interactive writing is an essential part of our day.

The building I teach in is very old and lacks modern school house amenities. The students miss out on conveniences other wise found in newer buildings. Our furniture is not appropriate for today's children. The PTA struggles to find members and thus is unable to provide much for the school. These kids deserve the best. These obstacles are not theirs to overcome.

A large easel/big book area provides my students will an interactive outlet. Together we share books, write stories, work math problems, and make discoveries within the content areas. As the students become independent thinkers, this area provides tools and organization to support this growth.

Think of the look on a six year old face when they walk in their classroom and discover a large, colorful, inviting work space. This easel screams, "read with me, write with me, come learn". Your support drives this excitement.
