I am a fourth grade teacher in a K-5 Title One elementary school in Mississippi. Due to the financial crisis that our state is facing, we have received several budget cuts. My students are excited about learning. I feel that it is my job as their teacher to make sure that they stay excited, regardless of the issues that we face.

My fourth grade students are required to take a state - wide writing assessment. We have been working extremely hard to prepare for the test. I am amazed at the improvements my students have made since the beginning of the school year. Writing is no longer a chore for them! They are truly excited about developing their five paragraph essays and sharing them with the class.

I would like to keep them motivated about writing. I would like for them to continue to take ownership over their learning. In order to make this a reality, we need hands on writing material, as well as, grammar games that will allow them to focus on their weak areas. I feel that my students will greatly benefit from the following materials: 1 Instant Writing Center, 1 Take It to Your Seat Writing Center, 1 Recipes for Good Writing Card Bank, 1 Write and Publish Activity Center, and 1 Capitalization and Punctuation Instant Learning Center.

By funding our project, you will make is possible for my students to continue to develop their writing skills in an enjoyable way. The next John Grisham may be sitting in my classroom. We never know!
