Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach third grade math and science to students who come from low income households, and who lack many experiences. However like all kids they love playing games, and love earning and spending money.

I'm in need of some math games and math manipulatives that will provide hands on experiences with money. These math games will foster a concrete understanding of adding and subtracting money, saving money and spending money responsibly. This understanding will help them achieve a higher level of number sense, as well as help them achieve on the state mandated mathematics test.

The games and manipulatives that I'm requesting will provide my students with the opportunity to be engaged and to talk about saving money, spending money, and adding and subtracting money. It will also help me set up a clasroom economy where the students can earn money for performing classrooom, and can spend it at the classroom store. This will provide them with real world situations where they can learn the basics of personal finances.

You will make it possible for my students to have a clear understanding of earning, saving, and spending money that will last them a lifetime. Thank you for taking the time to read the goals of this project, and for considering donating to it.
