Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Despite the problems of the inner city related to poverty and crime, my classroom is a place of joy, mission, and optimism. My students have internalized a dedication to excellence and pursuing our big goals for the year. In our ninth and tenth grade English classroom, we are striving to meet and exceed the standards necessary to be productive, thoughtful citizens. Most of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch, but we are determined to overcome the challenges of poverty regarding access to and quality of resources. We are dedicated to preparing our minds to excel not only in high school, but also in college and beyond. That means we need the proper technologies.

My students deserve the same access to modern resources as their affluent peers. They need learning experiences that are vibrant, active, fast-paced, and modern. A projector will serve as the foundation for attention grabbing lectures that make learning relevant, intriguing, and fun. We learn by connecting knowledge to our senses, so what a pleasure it will be to incorporate video and audio to the language arts classroom. Imagine watching a poet recite his or her poems, or a musician explaining the development of his or her lyrics, or a newscast on a world event we are reading about. Many of my students do not have access to these resources at home, and you can help provide them by supporting this project.

We are requesting an Epson PowerLite S6 LCD Projector. I know that the colorful, dynamic presentations that my students will both witness and create will change their view of the English classroom.

With humility and gratitude, my students and I thank you for making it possible to modernize our classroom, enter the 21st century, and energize our learning.
