Thank you for taking time to read this - your time is appreciated. It is so important to teach our youth about healthy nutrition and eating healthy at a young age. Reversing the trend of obesity in America is of great importance. I teach at a 5th and 6th grade school. I teach Health and PE to 500 students. We are located in a rural town. We have a diverse population of students with almost 40% on free and reduced meals. How great it would be to be able to educate my students on healthy nutrition and ways to eat healthier.

My job as a Health and PE teacher is to educate students on what healthy nutrition is. My budget is very low with most of my funds being spent on PE equipment. Most of our school funds are spent on reading, math, and technology materials. That is why I'm asking for help in obtaining hands-on-health and nutrition resources. Having good nutrition and health resources will help me be able to successfully teach my students all about good nutrition.

Resources I need in order to teach my students about healthy nutrition are: Healthy eating with MyPyramid book collection (books are easy to read text with vivid photographs and explain each food group and how important each is for good nutrition), MyPyramid bulletin board set (promotes and outlines the dietary guidelines, students will clearly see how they can be healthier), 50 ways posters (great visuals for students, encourages eating healthier and gives 50 ways on how to do that), Food pyramid pocket chart with cards (hands on way for students to learn about nutritional guidelines and the six food groups), Food Clings Kit (versatile nutrition teaching tool for all ages, students will be able to arrange clings to illustrate healthy meals), Inflatable Pyramid (includes information on food groups, physical activity suggestions, and making smart food choices), How to teach nutrition to kids book (activities and strategies on how to make learning about nutrition meaningful and fun to children), and Nutrition / Pyramid / and Food Safety Toss Up Balls (inflatable balls, toss the bal out and the student who catches it answers a question on nutrition, offers exciting and fun learning opportunities).

The resources I've listed will be used with my students to learn about healthy nutrition. Using these resources will give us fun and creative ways to learn. Your help will make it possible for all students at my school to have opportunities to study and increase his/her knowledge regarding good nutrition and ways to be healthy. Thank you for your consideration.
