Learning Math 1 Number At a Time!

My students need math resources to enrich their current mathematics curriculum. I am requesting a write/wipe graph set that will allow me to create numerous mathematics lessons centered around graphing. I am requesting a resource book that will help me create math centers for my students to use to reinforce skills I have taught. The bean and pig counters will serve as additional math manipulatives that will allow the students to have hands on exploration of math counting concepts. I have also requested a magnet set that is geared to science and math and is an excellent set for the students to use in order to explore sorting and classifying. Patterning is an important Kindergarten standard and block patterning is educational and fun for the students.

I want to make a hands on learning experience for my students. I am a first year Kindergarten teacher in a program improvement school district. I have an extremely diverse classroom both ethnically and economically. I share the classroom with the afterschool program due to lack of available space. That is why portable, center style resources are very helpful.

After a math concept is taught students need the opportunity to explore and practice throughout the year. I frequently set up math centers for the students and need more resources to keep it new and exciting for them. As a new teacher it get expensive to provide new materials. When we recently had a WOW Science class they were given the opportunity to explore magnets and I found many had never experienced the concept and would like to offer this activity for them to explore. Due to lack of space the products I am requesting are center activities that I can easily bring in and out of the cupboard.

The resources I am requesting are geared towards helping me create math learning centers. The bean counters allow the children to learn one-to-one correspondence. The pattern blocks help the children learn patterning and shapes. The math center resource book allows me to create numerous math centers for the children to engage in. The magnet set will allow the children the opportunity to sort and classify objects that are magnetic and non-magnetic. The graph boards will serve as a teaching tool for me during whole group instruction time. All these products will be used by the entire class and will be used as ongoing activities. I will use the resources frequently throughout this year and in the years to come.

By purchasing these products for my classroom you will bring math to life for my students. Math manipulative's serve as a crucial element to a well rounded math curriculum. You will help my students by providing a wide range of learning materials for them to explore for the remainder of the school year.
