My students need a Flip Camera to document their journals for each other to view and critique.

Eager 4th graders in need of some technology. I teach 4th grade in Virginia. My students come from a low social economic status community, however they are enthusiastic learners.

My students love to have their hands on technology, and in the fast changing world they NEED to have their hands on technology! I often cannot find the technology that I need in my school for my students to use and my school does not have money for enough technology to meet demand.

For this project students create a journal as if they are one of Virginia's early settlers. They explain the land, the natives, the food, etc. After students write, proof-read, and rewrite a final draft, they make the document look old by tearing the edges of the paper, crinkle the paper, then soak it in coffee. The students LOVE the hands-on in making the document look old.

With your help this project can go one step further. I would like to use technology with this project by having the students read their journals with the Flip camera on. Students will then be able to hear and see their own reading of their journal and critique their own and other students'. This is great for public speaking, Virginia Studies, art, and technology all rolled into one.
