Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Young minds need to take an up-close and personal look at rocks to learn how they are formed and all the properties they display. I want my students to be able to explore these properties of rocks, fossils and minerals firsthand by using real-world objects!
Each of the boxes that come in the science kit collections that I am asking for includes 15 easy-to-handle specimens—all labeled and ready for my young scientist to explore and learn from.
By using these materials my students will be targeting the following standards in science:
• Composition of rocks & Understanding of fossils
• Physical properties of Earth materials
• Processes of rock and soil formation
• Making observations and using hands-on science tools
• Comparing and Contrasting the physical properties of various rocks & minerals
My students will experience concepts in-depth, that are cross-curricular and based on national science standards that would only be possible with the use of these necessary science tools.
Creating young scientists starts with hands-on and real-world life experiences. Please help me open the doors of science to my students and years of future students and scientists.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
