My kindergarten students need 25 journals, 4 See and Write Handwriting Tutor centers, 4 AC adapters, and a class pack of markers to enhance their beginning knowledge of writing.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach kindergarten English Language Learners in a high poverty school. My students are eager learners! Most of them did not recognize letters or sounds at the beginning of the school year. Now, many of them are reading words. I am so proud of them.

All of my students are on free or reduced lunches. Seldom can the parents afford materials. Most of them are hardworking people who just don't have extra money to buy materials for school. I am constantly purchasing materials out of my own pocket to help these children. Our school's allotted money does not go far when there are so many impoverished students. I want to give my students a wide variety of learning opportunities.

They practice writing as a group using dry erase markers and boards that I bought. They are ready to move to the next step. The children would enjoy writing in their own journals. I would like to use these journals on a daily basis to reinforce spelling, writing, and reading skills. I have also requested 4 writing center games that would give the students extra independent practice while I work with reading groups.

Your generosity will help my students broaden their learning experience in kindergarten. They are always so grateful for new supplies. Thank you considering our project. You truly do make a difference in the lives of these children!
