My students need 5 copies each of 4 books, including "City of Ember (Books of Ember Series #1)" and "Elijah of Buxton".
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Imel's classroom raised $194
This project is fully funded
I teach 6th grade in an Indiana charter school. We serve a high-poverty community and our only funding comes from a community organization, rather than a national franchise.
Our charter states that we will provide all supplies for our students because most of them come from a poor financial situation. We are a school with very limited funding, so this becomes a difficult task.
I try to get my kids excited about reading by allowing them to have some choice in the books they read and provide them with different options. They become more excited about reading when they have an actual book in their hands, as opposed to a traditional text book. We will use the books to read in small groups, engage in book discussions, and choose projects that address the students' interest and demonstrate their understanding of the literature they read. These novels will help them to think outside the box by providing puzzles and mysteries that also keep them hooked.
You will make it possible for my students to ignite a fire and passion for reading. They will be able to engage in their learning and experience quality book discussions.
