Youth health at risk and we can make a difference! I teach health to 10th through 12th grade.

I see a need for more hands on education when it comes to smoking. A different approach to the information may make all the difference. The students made comments about hearing the same information over and over again. If I could give them the opportunity to see a lung with cancer that may be the approach they need to keep them from choosing to start or helping them quit.

To benefit the students I would need at set of lungs. One lung is healthy and one is black and has cancer. I would also need the maintenance kit to preserve the lungs as long as possible. The education video is for myself. That way I can provide the students with the best educational experience. This project will bring a hands on experience to the students. They will see the effects of smoking live, instead of out of a book. My students will have the opportunity to look at the lungs up close as well as touch them. This will impact the students for a long time.

Your donation will give me the ability to help my students make informed decisions when it come to smoking. This project will allow them to take the knowledge and experience with them. Hopefully they will be able to educate others and describe what they saw. Overall the goal is to reduce the amount to teen smoking.
