Acting out stories is fun, especially when you have the correct props to play with. I am a preschool teacher of a self-contained class for children who are hearing impaired. The students in my class are learning how to communicate through listening and speech alone. My students travel to this class from all over our county and it is my job to provide them with memorable language experiences.

Research shows that language growth is built off of real life experiences. I am constantly trying to bring these experiences into the classroom and am limited to the few story props that I have.

We are getting ready to read "The Little Engine That Could." I've wanted to read this story for some time but have been concerned that my students would not have enough props to use newly learned language and interact with each other and the book. If they do not have an experience to go with the book, they will not have a chance to practice and remember all of the important language they learned. We need a wooden train set to help facilitate language and keep it growing.

We need your help! Just like the little boys and girls on the other side of the mountain needed the Little Blue Engine, we need you! Please help build meaningful language by donating a wooden train set to the little boys and girls in my class. Unless you help, they will not have any trains to go with their lessons.
