Who does not love to curl up in a comfortable spot to read a favorite book? I am a NYC public school teacher with the finest set of 3rd grade boys and girls who are madly in love with reading! My students are from a low income community. These effervescent students deserve a safe and comfortable learning environment.

I am lucky and grateful to have students who are willing to get lost in a good book. I can remember the many times as a child that I would sneak into a closet with a pillow to read a beloved book. I smile with content at a childhood memory of me contentedly curled up on a beanbag and with rapture read the pages of a mystery book. Unfortunately many of my students do not have the luxuries of having beanbags, comfy floor pillows, and pads to cushion them on our hard floors as they read. We have one small rug in our room that can barely provide comfortable reclining space for six wriggly 8-year olds. I would love to recreate my own reading experiences for my boys and girls so that they can know what great reading moments feel like.

I would love to have an inviting, at ease, and comfortable environment for my students where they feel safe to relax and fall into a great book! Soft and colorful floor pillows, cushiony pads, and soft reading seats will help to create many wonderful book nooks where warm reading memories can be made. Our independent reading hour will quickly become the most coveted time of our school day!

Your help will ensure that every boy and girl in this classroom will have the experience of comfortably reading a book. My students will know that this a time of the day that they can enjoy and treasure. I hope that you can help me to provide this to my students.
