I currently teach kindergarten in Tennessee. We are in a rural area. Our school population has about 985 kids with almost half receiving free/reduced lunches and fees.

Due to the declining budget in our school district, we are in need of help with supplies. We are planning on working on a weather unit soon but we have only a few books about it. This unit is part of our state curriculum in which kindergarten students should be able to define and describe different types of weather. Our usual activity is to discuss the weather and make a tornado at the end of the week. I would like to do more with my class this year than this.

I would like to be able for the student to learn characteristics about each type of weather and be able to view real pictures of the weather events happening. With the books, pet tornado and weather theme box, I will be able to let me students have a chance to see how weather changes and the conditions, as well as, the effects. My students will be able to learn while having fun and it will also create an everlasting memory of school.
