Let's leap into learning! On a daily basis, my students hear me say this repeatedly; especially in reading. I teach second grade students in Florida. The curriculum that I teach involves all subjects. Our second grade team groups the students for reading to ensure that all needs are met. I teach the lowest level reading group. The students in this group struggle on a daily basis to become better readers. Their self esteem is very low and they require a lot of love, care, and encouragement. As their reading teacher, I am determined to help them reach their goal of success.

My reading group face many obstacles. They are reading well below their grade level. They require a tremendous amount of teaching, modeling, practice and guidance. By the look on their faces each day, you see a determination to do better in reading. When asked what would they like to be when they grow up, many of them replied that they wanted to be able to read for themselves and not have to depend on anyone to help them read.

I am asking for LeapFrog Leapsters and the activity books to help my reading students practice their reading and build their reading fluency. The Leapsters are user friendly and provide reading activities that keep the students engaged. The Leapster resources will help build the students' self esteem, build comprehension, and promote self sufficiency in reading.

Your help will ensure that my reading students will gain the self confidence and knowledge needed to be successful today and in the future. Your help will definitely make a difference in the lives of my students.
