I teach 3rd grade, as part of Teach For America, a non-profit organization; our mission is to provide equal education for all children, regardless of socioeconomic status. I teach in a low-income community and resources are few and often non-existent. When I began, I had nothing in my classroom except 5 desks, 3 bookshelves, and a cabinet full of cockroaches! I'm whole-heartedly committed to providing these children with the best education possible. It has definitely been a journey (to say the least!), however it is difficult to give these students the experiences they need without sufficient resources/supplies. Many children are Visual Learners and require experiences that will allow them to visually witness the area we are studying. An elmo-projector will allow students visual access to a plethora of information. This projector will target students who are visual/spatial, auditory, mathematic, interpersonal, interpersonal, musical/rhythmic, and tactile learners! I believe that this elmo-projector will aid me in providing effective materials that will improve their ability to progress as developing learners. A projector will also greatly help me as a teacher in planning their experiences, thereby maximizing time and being able to teach more effectively and efficiently! Because of the economic status of this community, your help will provide my students with experiences and materials that otherwise would never be available to them. Thank you for your time and help!
