Star Light, Star Bright

My students need need a workshop for 150 students to participate in the Star Lab Outreach Program provided by The Schiele Museum of Natural History.

Ever wish you could visit the stars? I hope to make that dream a reality for my fourth-grade students. I teach Science, Math, Social Studies, and Language Arts in a suburban elementary school.

My students can't wait to study the solar system. I've been peaking their interest since school began in August with tidbits about what they will learn in our Astronomy unit. Technology has made it easy for my students to view photographs of the sun, moon, and different planets, as well as research answers to their many questions. Unfortunately, I can't take them outside at night for an authentic lesson on the night sky and the different constellations they can find.

The Grassroots Outreach Program of The Schiele Museum of Natural History will bring Star Lab, an inflatable planetarium, to my school. The students will be able to crawl inside the planetarium and participate in a detailed lesson about the stars and the patterns they make in the night sky. This will be an authentic experience that I can not replicate in the classroom.
