I will flip for a digital camera, but I will kiss a pig for many more! I am an instructional technology coach at a Title I Elementary School. About 93% of the students receive free or reduced lunch. I assist pre-k through fifth grade students in designing technology projects that correlate with standards that their teachers are covering in their classrooms. In addition, I train pre-k through fifth grade teachers, and special area teachers on ways to integrate technology into their classrooms. My school has four coaches, and 347 students. All coaches, with the exception of me, have a budget to purchase items with. Therefore, I either purchase items with my own money, or I try to find free resources.

Students and teachers at my school enjoy utilizing digital cameras to enhance the curriculum. However, my school only has three digital cameras. Frequently, students and teachers do not get an opportunity to create a lot of digital stories, books, vodcasts, and other projects that they desire to create with their students because we only have three digital cameras. Teachers repeatedly say, “Mrs. X is using the digital cameras each week. My students will never get an opportunity to create/complete their projects because we can’t get the cameras.” “Well, I guess I want be using the digital cameras this week because Mrs. X will sign them out for two weeks.” I can not emphasize enough how much I desire to have additional cameras at my school. As previously mentioned, I will flip for a digital camera, but I will kiss a pig for many more.

The students, teachers, and I need additional digital cameras. Having additional cameras will provide additional teachers and students with opportunities to create various projects such as digital stories, vodcasts, and additional multimedia projects.

As I previously mentioned, I will flip for a digital camera, but I will kiss a pig for many more. If my school receives more than two digital cameras, then I will submit a picture of me kissing a pig to the donor(s). Research states that students will obtain additional information, and will better enjoy their learning experiences if technology is integrated into the curriculum. Please assist me in providing the best opportunities for the students, and educators at my school.
