Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I work in a high poverty area teaching kindergarten. My 5 year old kindergarten students really enjoy doing art projects, but we don't have many supplies to let them express their creativity. In expressing their creativity my students are strengthening their fine motor skills, which will in turn help them with their writing.

I am a new teacher and I am excited about embarking into this new and fulfilling career. I was motivated to ask for your help one day when my youngest student, who is still four years old told me that he loved making art. That day my students were making a collage about things they see in school. They were cutting pictures out of magazines.

Our class is in need of art supplies so that my students can demonstrate their creativity. Our class will be grateful for donations such as crayons, markers, finger paints, watercolors, paintbrushes, construction paper, pipe cleaners in different colors, and tissue paper.

By donating art supplies to my classroom, my students will have an opportunity to create beautiful art work. Especially now that the holidays are coming soon, my students will be so excited to create something wonderful to show you their wonderful skills.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
