How easy is it to get lost in the study of a foreign land or culture and make it relevant to each individual? That is the struggle that I deal with each year teaching world geography. Many students can not relate to foreign locations and customs by reading about them in a text book. Some even struggle to relate watching a video. How neat would it be to watch a first hand account from one of your classmates?

Teaching world geography with limited media, in such a media centered world, is very difficult. Distant locations are so foreign and out of touch to many of my students, that it is often difficult for a student to relate to the materials. Understanding different cultures, customs, and locations can often be very confusing for students.

With the flip video recorder, students will be able to take a small, easily portable camera with them on a personal, family, school, or group trip to show first hand accounts of different parts of the state, country, or world and their cultures and customs. Being able to see a classmate, on location, giving first hand accounts, will make the information more relatable to the students.

Your help will ensure that my students are able to see different parts of the world, and relate to different cultures while watching a classmate report on location. It will give my students a sense of responsibility as they report about their trip with the flip video camera. This would be an activity that they could take with them the rest of their life.
