Piano Keyboard Lab Trips Students

My music students are all "tied up" in piano keyboard cords and need to be released!! I teach music in a high-need school(Title I)with inclusive special education students in every classroom. Music education is provided for every student aged 3 years (Montessori, Virginia Pre-School Initiative, and Pre-School) to grade 5. Piano keyboard instruction is included in the music curriculum for every child in grades 2 through 5. (Keyboard pianos(20)were acquired previously through grant money.)

The piano keyboard cords are "rocking" the musical "boat!" Due to placing the piano keyboards on stands, the plug-in and extension cords are just below the students' busy feet (and those 2nd graders wiggle!) I have acquired one over-sized table which can hold 4 keyboards easily without hanging over the edge. This has improved the stability of the keyboards and assisted in the safety of the children while using the lab. The county has eliminated the equipment/furniture warehouse so I cannot get any more of these large tables.

We desperately need 4 additional over-sized tables to stabilize the piano keyboard lab and allow students to sit and learn in safety. The keyboard program has been in place for six years, and the impact on student learning has been substantial as evidenced by the students' improved music skills, excitement in pursuing private piano study, and interest in music in general.

Your help will ensure that my students are learning piano keyboard in a safe environment with easy access for all students. Due to the inclusion of special needs students, the extra stability will allow them full participation. Your help will solve an ongoing problem with a program which is valued by students and parents alike.
