Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I want to show my students that reading can be fun! I am a 3rd grade general education teacher who spends most of our class time teaching Language Arts and Math. Our school is primarily made up of low Social Economic Status families who need a lot of assistance academically.

Our school only has a couple of class sets of "Charlotte's Web" books for the entire school. Every time I try to check it out, it's always being used by another teacher. I have been waiting 6 weeks!

One of our reading units is called Friendship. I think "Charlotte's Web" would tie in greatly with this unit and is even mentioned in our Teacher's Edition as a good "Suggested Reading Books." Not only will this book about friendship, but I think it will open their eyes up to the world of books and show them that reading can indeed be fun!

Your help will ensure that my students will get an opportunity to experience reading one of the greatest children's classics. You will make it possible for them to jump start their journey on the road to reading many more classics in their academic future.
