My students need 4 Leap Frog Tag Readers with batteries and storybooks to go along with them.

I teach kindergarten in a low-income, transitional community in Alabama. All of the children in my class qualify for free or reduced lunch.

Due to reduced funding at both the state and local levels as well as limited financial resources among the families in our community there is little money available to purchase new technology for our classroom.

I am asking for 4 Leap Frog Tag Readers (with headphones and batteries) and 8 interactive Tag Storybooks for my kindergarten classroom. Students will be able to listen to stories and read along with the Tag reader as part of the literacy activities available each day during their reading time. The Tag Reader will allow students to hear the words as they touch them helping to increase their reading vocabulary. They will also be able to choose activities in each storybook that help to build phonemic awareness and comprehension skills. My hope is that using this technology will build excitement for reading while building their confidence to become independent readers.
