Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach 6th grade at a charter school in a high-need community. We focus on Ancient Civilizations like Greece, Rome, and Egypt. We also work on geography throughout the year.

My students struggle with geography and the realization that there is a whole world out there to explore. Many of them come think places like France and Italy are part of the United States.

Having a variety of maps in our classroom would enable my students to visualize the world out there and see exactly where we live in relation to everything else. Being able to visualize ancient civilizations will also help them to visualize these far away places. It will spark their interest in the world and help them to explore.

Your help will make it possible for my students to explore the world right from my class. It will make them more aware citizens and make them excited to learn about the world around them.
