I am the teacher librarian (Library Media Specialist) in a K-3 high-needs public school. Our current enrollment is 375 children with 80% free lunch; 18% English language learners; 13% children with special needs.

Last year I loaned my Library ELMO to one of our Kindergarten teachers. The ELMO became an integral part of her daily teaching. The ELMO allows her to display and share stories while students follow along. She models the steps and process required to complete worksheets. The students work along with her until they are ready to work independently. She also displays manipulatives (3-D!) to support concrete math and science lessons. The students follow her lead as they work "with her" with their own manipulatives. When the time came to take the ELMO back for my own use in the library -- I just couldn't do it!

As a library media specialist I have taken the lead in bringing technology into our building, modeling its use and training teachers to understand how tools can make their instruction come to life. I just found out that if you do a really good job, you can lose your ELMO -- this is a good thing ... but I miss it so.

Please help Grandview Library to get its ELMO back! I used it during so many lessons in my library. Sharing books, images, and modeling reading and writing. It's a technology that makes a difference for all children.
