Help Us Step Into the 21st Century by Making Science, Social Studies, and Math Come to Life!

A study I viewed on youtube perfectly describes the technology gap that is affecting our student's ability to keep up in the modern world. The students that I work with are from impoverished backgrounds. Many are second language learners from families of immigrants that came here to give them a chance at succeeding. It is difficult to provide the very best education for them without proper tools to equip them for the future. Why look at paper maps of the world when we could use Google Earth to show the world in 3D? Why look at flat, one dimensional photographs of cells dividing, when we could project it happening in real time?

Here is the solution. Everyone relies technology to stay connected to the world around them. Our students need access to the tools to learn about the opportunities available to them. Many of my students are second language learners who will greatly benefit from the highly effective visual aid of an LCD Projector which will bring even the most difficult subject come to life. When used in conjunction with a laptop, students will be able to create their own projects and gain skills and a sense of accomplishment as we share them with our community. Currently our site has one projector for a school of 650 students. Having shared this one projector for the past three years, I can testify that student achievement flourishes with the use of digital media for learning. Whether it's seeing a work of their own creation on the big screen, or using Google Earth to show the continents and regions of the United States, having and LCD projector for my students will enhance student achievement in many ways.

With your help, you will make it possible for student's who are already struggling with learning a new language, to see firsthand, what is possible. These are student's who might not otherwise receive these opportunities. Your help WILL make a difference. When we pull together as a community to help a child, we are pulling together to touch the future. Please help me make this dream a reality. Thank you!
