"When events are not written, it can feel like they never happened.

I've been charged with reviving our school's journalism program. My classroom includes Freshmen through Seniors, at-risk students, International Baccalaureate students, Advanced Placement students and everyone in between.

We are a diverse group, and we are very passionate.

Our journalism class also does not have textbooks, and we only have one student computer in the classroom.

We have taken on the task of reviving the school newspaper. Our school has outstanding students, award-winning teachers and a rich history; however, it has not had a school newspaper in the last few years.

Yet, we are committed to the task, and we have the spirit of the local civil rights leaders who did not let adversity quiet their voices.

Our paper will recall the history of our school to current students, and it will document the current student body and faculty for our future.

We need a classroom set of the Associated Press Stylebook, flash drives, a voice recorder, a mobile whiteboard, copy paper and other materials, such as red pens, to get our newsroom buzzing again.

The paper will renew the spirits of our students and staff by highlighting their achievements and the history of our school while also promoting literacy.

Your help will make it possible for my students to remember from where we came and set a path for where we will go.

My newsroom project needs assorted supplies, including 25 copies of the Associated Press Stylebook, flash drives, a voice recorder, a portable whiteboard, dry erase markers, a case of copy paper and office supplies. The cost of this proposal is $952, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment ?."

"Thank you is not enough! As of August 2010, we have received our AP Stylebooks, and we have been writing like crazy! Our next goal is to obtain a laptop for our classroom since I was moved to a classroom without a computer. However, your generosity has created a beautiful spirit in our classroom, and our students feel the community does care about their futures!"
