Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Help us enhance our literacy circles with great children's books! I teach third grade in a low-income community in North Carolina and we desperately need high quality books to help my reluctant students love reading.

My students love hearing stories about children and animals, but they don't love reading them on their own. Obviously, literacy is a fundamental skill that no one can succeed without. My students must learn to love to read and to read on their own in order to succeed in all subjects.

We are beginning literature circles to give us a chance to enjoy the written word for all it's worth. In order to help us succeed, we need group sets of children's classics and new, thrilling stories that will hold their attention.

With your help, these students will have the opportunity to read and respond to great literature that is on their level. These great books will help build their desire to learn and read which will put them on a new path toward academic success.
