Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

"We all need mentors in our lives." I am a third grade teacher in a low-income school.

Writing is a foundational tool for third grade students. My students struggle with their writing skills, so I am emphasizing the process of storytelling through reading and studying mentor texts. Mentor texts give students a model of great writing so they can generate ideas and learn the techniques of professional writers.

In order to develop their writing abilities, we need suitable mentor texts which demonstrate great writing. With these great works of literature, both chapter books and picture books, my students will have a guiding hand to help them become world-class writers.

Your help will ensure that my students have the perfect companion to their writing curriculum. The mentor texts will inspire the narrative writing skills these students will need for the rest of their lives.
