Science News Magazines

My students need 25 Weekly Readers that provide non-fiction articles about science and our changing world. I am the Math and Science Instructional Coach for grades k-5, and I am hoping to get 25 readers for each grade level.

Our District is implementing a new inquiry based Science Curriculum this year. I am the district's Math and Science Instructional Coach, and this is the first year our school has had this position. Therefore, I am attempting to provide our students with a wealth of knowledge regarding Science in our everyday world. The proposed readers would compliment the Inquiry Science Kits that we are currently inserting into our curriculum. They would provide my teachers with excellent knowledge based articles that will support the inquiry learning in the experiments.

Our district is a low-income area which makes it difficult for our school to buy extra materials and resources. Currently, our district is showing a great support for Science Education by way of Inquiry Science Materials. Nonetheless, we do not have the funds to support the Inquiry materials with good Science reading curricula.

Therefore, I believe this is a great opportunity to help support that curriculum with a great resource like these readers. Furthermore, the readers provide a cross curriculum solution to the limited time teachers have to instruct all subject areas. These non-fiction readers would be used as a reading comprehension exercise while supporting the inquiry Science experiments being taught during the Science lesson.

Your assistance to our low-income school district will allow our students experiences they would never have the chance to encounter. We appreciate your help and support in this area.
