Creating Video Math Stories

My students need a flip video camera with USB cable and tripod to create "Video Math Stories" for a special math section on our school web site.

Our school is in a "blue collar" working class neighborhood. Our students include working families, military families and low income families that live in public housing. We have a very diverse population. One thing that all of these students have in common is that they love technology and they love to create with technology.

Our students need to improve their math test scores and this project will involve students in helping each other with improving math skills. We would like to create a special section on our school web site for "Math Stories."

Students will create videos that tell "math stories." They will write word problems, then act them out and make a video to illustrate these problems. These math stories will be posted on our school web site. We need a small, easy to use video camera for children to use to shoot, and edit these math videos.

Funding this project will help children at our school to be truly creative in learning math skills and in helping others with math skills. They will be able to use technology to learn and be highly imaginative while doing it. Not only will they learn through producing "Math Stories," they will be able to share their stories with others.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
