My Students

I work as an occupational therapist in the schools with special education students. My students are awesome with a lot of ability! They are funny, hardworking, and capable of a lot!

However, there are times they need to regulate their sensory systems in order to achieve their highest level of function during their school day.

These are high school age children who are in their final years of education. They are learning important life and job skills to allow them to be as independent as possible in the future.

My Project

Our school has been kind enough to set aside a space for a "sensory room" for our special education students. These rooms can include a variety of items which can help the students to regulate or just get calm and focused and be ready to learn and participate. We are in need of items for this room though!

We need a strong durable trampoline for these bigger older students.

We also need an item for the cozy calming corner such as the bean bag chair. Music is also important for calming and the white noise machine would be helpful, too!
