I teach Language Arts to two classes of sixth graders and two fifth grade classes in a small, community centered school. My 45 sixth graders are hooked on reading; every spare moment they have at school is spent reading.

When my students finish a book, they are excited about sharing their thoughts with classmates and giving us a summary of the book. Unfortunately, with all the material we need to cover in class, we don't always have time for every student to give a review of every book he or she reads.

Podcasts are the perfect solution to our time crunch! Students can write a review of the book they just finished, including a brief summary and their thoughts on the book. This writing would serve as the script for their podcast. With my help, students can record a podcast, complete with opening music, for their classmates to listen to. Students would use the MP3 player to access the podcasts before school, during class (for early finishers), and after school.

Your help will make it possible for my enthusiastic sixth graders to respond to literature and grow their love for reading. They would be so excited to have the opportunity to use technology to tell their classmates about great books they have read!
