Welcome to my classroom! We approach English through inquiry, and reach out to all the different disciplines. We do crazy things like using LEGO bricks to model complicated, abstract ideas from the literature. We value technical writing as much as "once upon a time" books. And we write as much as we read. It's quite a ride - lots of fun, but lots of work too.

I'm frustrated at the number of girls who don't see engineering as something they could possibly be interested in. I'm especially disappointed that they won't sign up for my Applied Technical Writing class, which involves solving engineering problems with LEGO bricks and writing about it.

I want to put some girl-friendly engineering-related books into the hands of my female students. I want them to see that there are women out there like Cynthia Breazil, who dare to push the bounds of being a girl and being an engineer.

Here's your chance to reach out to the next generation. A girl picking up one of these books could design something new and change the world forever!
