Mr. G. from MO is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need specialized materials from a science supplier to experience minds-on demonstrations and hands-on activities.

I'm a regular visitor to the grocery store at the wee hours of the morning for supplies to make science come to life for my eighth grade students at our urban middle school. However, some things just can not be found at the grocery store! I want to pack my class with a little extra whiz and bang: a bottle of clear liquid that turns blue when dropped on the floor; a solution that when swirled changes from red to yellow to green like a stoplight; and a chance to show the magnetic fields really do exist when a strange liquid is made to literally crawl out of the container toward the ceiling. And then there's that system we use to name all living things... why is it so great? With a hands on kit, my students would be able to actually apply the naming system to their own unknown organisms. There is much to be explained about the familiar, but imagine if the teacher could present the unfamiliar and try to challenge your perceptions. These are the experiences that students remember and the experiences that help them understand that science is the art of explaining the world around us. With the appropriate supplies for the demonstrations described above, I could engage my students instantly in the process of science. Your support can bring these minds-on demonstrations and activities to my students. The hours of classroom involvement is only part of the return on the investment. My students will remember these exciting experiences for years to come.
