My students need 100 shelf markers to use when book hunting in the library. They also need 1400 bookmarks to read more efficiently.

I am a media specialist in a school that services approximately 750 students who love reading!

We try very hard to keep our books organized so that students can quickly and easily locate the books they want or need. One way we keep the books organized is requiring students to use shelf markers which they place on the shelf when they remove a book. If the student decides he doesn't want the book, he knows exactly where to return on the shelf because the shelf marker is in its place. The media center is in great need of new shelf markers as ours are worn and tattered. I also teach students to take care of their library books. Instead of "dog-earing" or turning down page corners to mark a stopping point, I distribute book marks for the students to use.

I am requesting sets of shelf markers for students to use in order to help keep our library orderly and efficiently in use. I am also requesting book marks for students to use to mark their stopping points. The book marks are printed with tips for caring for books, the Dewey Decimal System, and the Five Finger Rule. The Five Finger Rule ensures that students read on their ability levels. Providing students with Dewey Decimal System bookmarks will supply them with a resource aide to use when browsing the nonfiction section.

I want every student in my school to have access to books they desire. The responsibility of taking care of our library books and keeping them in order empowers students with an ability to promote literacy to others, to love books, and become efficient library patrons.
