Grow, Grow, Grow

My students need a hydro-tube gardening set, 6 sets of garden hand tools, a larger gardening tool set and 5 types of seeds.

We want to be involved in our community. I teach all subject areas in my Kindergarten class. Our school focuses on lots of hands-on activities to help the students become ACTIVE, life-long learners.

In our courtyard at school, several of my students noticed that other classes had some garden areas in the courtyard. They asked why we didn't. I found out we could have a garden area. I asked my students if they would like to create a garden and be involved with the local neighborhood. They said yes! The only problem is that we don't have any supplies. The students want to plant vegetables and flowers. They want to plant those items so that residents of the neighborhood can come and get vegetables to eat or flowers to enjoy.

Our class needs some basic gardening tools and seeds to plant. This project will allow my students to learn about the life cycle of how a plant grows, the parts of plants, different types of plants, the difference between edible and non edible plants, and about being a part of the community and a good neighbor at the same time. This project will allow them to give back to their school community.

Your help will allow my students to become a part of the community and learn science at the same time. This project will help my students see that they too can be a part of the community, no matter how big or small a person is, he/she has something to contribute.
