I teach fifth grade Science in a charter school in North Carolina. We pride ourselves on teaching "out of the box". We do not receive the same amount of public funding that traditional public schools do, yet we are held to the same standards. Our students come from diverse backgrounds yet they all are eager learners.

We do not have the supplies we need for students to learn in a hands on manner about how the sun's energy can be used to create an alternative source of energy for a variety of daily uses. Our students need to see in every day applications that the sun is an option in powering our homes and transportation! We need these kits to help students understand that they can be the ones to change the future.

The resources we need to help impact students today so that they can make wise decisions in the future are a k'nex solar energy kit which will allow students to build vehicles, fans and much more while powering them with the sun's energy. We need a solar oven so that students can see hands on how powerful the sun is and that they can even cook food! Finally, we need a solar house model kit so students can visualize and realize that our homes can operate off of the powerful sun.

Your help with this project can directly impact the future in a positive way. With your generous donation, students will know and understand how important and powerful the sun is and how it is a source of energy that is inexhaustible! Students need to learn about alternative forms of energy and they need to with hands on activities that empowers them to become responsible and invested in their education.
