Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach a class for children with severe and profound mental and physical disabilities. the children range in age from 6 to 8. There are four boys and one girl. Their disabilities include cerebral palsy, epilepsy, anoxia/brain damage, and Dandy Walker Syndrome. The children are all nonverbal and require assistance to complete most activities.

This is a new classroom, that just opened this school year. The school has been very supportive in buying us the necessary supplies, but we need some of the extras to make instruction more exciting and engaging.

These thematic boxes will provide the class with the materials and manipulatives we need to complete many thematic units throughout the year. I can spend my time focusing on teaching the students, rather than making manipulatives for each unit. These units can be used for years to come and will benefit many children.

You will make it possible for the children in my class to experience learning about the thematic units being taught in primary classes. they will be able to see, touch, hear, and experience these thematic units with manipulatives.
