I teach beginning and advanced drama to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders in a culturally diverse and ever growing school.

As our drama program grows and our student base changes, the need for more challenges and opportunities grows. Technical theater is an area of interest in many students. Technical theater includes lighting, sound, costume, makeup, set, properties, and publicity design. However, we do not have the textbooks and supplies needed to educate our students in this area.

A class set of the book Technical Theater For the Nontechnical People would be a good start to furthering my student's education in the world of theater. Students will have a stronger knowledge base in the world of theater upon leaving middle school and heading to high school. Another course option could be created through adding various technical resources which would allow the drama department to grow even further. Many students experience beginning drama and although enjoy theater would like to study more of the technical aspects which has not been offered before because we do not have the resources. Just by adding a book in which the students could refer to when creating designs would allow me to better prepare my students.

Your help will ensure that my students will have a more well rounded education in theater as well as possible add another course offering in drama. Technical theater seems to entice many students will no niche in school and sometimes pulls them back in to education. Through your donations our drama department as well as our student's education can continue to grow and flourish.
