Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach a program for autistic 5 and 6 year olds in an urban setting. The children have significant delays in social ,academic and communication skills. We have 5 adults in the classroom with 6 children.

I took photos of the children to use for attendance. The look on their faces when they saw themselves was priceless!! "That Me" was the first language I had heard from one of the boys. I want to take photos weekly and develop books for the children to "read" in the classroom. We will also send home books to be read with their families.

I need photo cartridges and photo paper to use to print the photos. I have an old digital camera that will work fine. Through the photos we will be able to have the children see themselves and hopefully get some language. We can also make language boards with the photos and have the children choose the photo of what they want or need.

Can you help get that excited "that me!!" every day? My students will hopefully learn to interact and communicate through the photo books. Let's get them excited about learning.
