"Hello, I'm an elementary music teacher. I teach the strings program at my school. I'm teaching grades 3-5 how to play instruments. My school is in an extremely poor community and is highly diverse.
When I came to my school I noticed that there were no string instruments. It's impossible to build a music program without instruments. When I began my recruiting there was a very large interest in the strings program. Unfortunately most of the student’s families cannot afford to put food on the table, let alone get string instruments. There isn't enough money in the school to get instruments for every child that wants to participate. Some of these children that have "tough" circumstances at home could benefit the most from playing a string instrument.
I have a need for three violins. With these instruments I can give students the opportunity to learn a string instrument. Learning a musical instrument is a special gift. EVERY child should be given this opportunity regardless of their financial situation. Students need to experience the passion and the magic of music.
With your help we can change the lives of a few children. They will have the chance to excel at a musical instrument regardless of their families financial problems. This is a chance to change a child's life for the better and with your help we will make a difference.
My students need 3 violins.

Dear Peter, Steve, Nancy, Pranav Saha, Suzanne and Sean,
Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. I am a teacher at a Title I school and work with many students who cannot afford to buy or rent instruments. When I first arrived at this school we didn't have any string instruments.
Through lots of hard work I'm happy to report that you have helped our school in getting three instruments that will be used for the next several years. These instruments will be loaned to students and returned at the end of each school year.
Music is so important and it's been shown that students who are involved in music score better on tests. I was very excited to have 35 students in grades 3-5 involved in our strings program this year.
This would not have been possible without the help and generosity of people like you. When we performed our spring concert we had a huge turnout and every student was able to use their own instrument. You have truly helped to change the lives of several students at my school thank you again for your kindness.
With gratitude, Ms. B.

Dear Peter, Steve, Nancy, Pranav Saha, Suzanne and Sean,
Thank you for your kindness and generosity. Music is a gift that inspires students to try harder in their lives. Unfortunately not all children get the chance to enjoy it because of financial issues. With the donations you have given we will be able to better the lives of three students each year by giving them violin lessons in our school. When I came to my school there were no violins and the only way a student could be in strings was to rent or buy an instrument. Being that my school is Title I, not all of our students could afford renting an instrument. Many students would have been left out of violin class because they couldn't obtain the materials. Luckily because of generous individuals like you we are able to provide violins to all of our students. Thank you for helping to better the lives of my students.

"I played violin in a youth orchestra in Baltimore. Thanks to lots of practice and hard work, we were able to travel to play concerts in Holland and Taiwan. I hope playing music gives you some amazing adventures, just like it did for me."
