Wow our students with science models that help them learn about the differences and adaptability that occur in nature! I am the science specialist at a Title I school of 325 students where the majority of students come from homes of poverty and 47% are minority in ethnicity.

I have been borrowing a friend's skull collection to use with our students to teach about the differences and adaptability that occur in nature. The skulls are beginning to crumble and show wear. Also, I want our school to have its own models. Elementary students love life science. Models excite them and create interest.

A model of the human skull, models of animal bites, a model of an owl's pellet and its prey, and a model of a bat's skeleton would be wonderful to make the study of adaptations of animals. Students will observe the animal bites and infer what each animal's diet is based on their observations and knowledge. Owl pellets will be dissected and the model will help students identify the prey of the owl. In the past we have had to rely on pictures to try to identify the animal skulls in the pellet, which is at times difficult. The human skull and bat skeleton will further enhance the study of adaptations.

If you choose to donate these models for our science program, I assure you that I will use them effectively, that our students' learning will be enhanced, and that your generosity will be felt by the students.
