Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach kindergarten in a school that is 75% free or reduced lunch. We are also about 42% English language learners. My babies come from homes in which parents can't speak English, nor can they read writing in English or Spanish. I also serve as a primary service provider. This means that I have students with special needs in my class.

My students are typically from low income homes. Several students have no school supplies. My kids love to write. Many had never held a marker before kindergarten. Literacy is so important. If my students can become proficient readers and writers, then they will have a chance of escaping poverty.

I am asking donors to provide the funds for a reading and writing center. This is a movable stand that will contain everything we need for whole group instruction. My children will also use the stand and the materials during literacy centers and free choice time. The reading and writing stand will help make my students the kings and queens of literacy they deserve to be.

Your donation will make it possible for my students to learn important literacy skills. I wish for my students to become lifelong learners. Your donation will be a great step in achieving this goal.
