Emergency Needs For My Classroom

My classroom needs an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) for a student with a heart condition and walkie-talkies.

I teach third grade in a low income school district. This is a very special, high-need item.

I have a student this year that suffers from Long QT Syndrome which is a heart condition. He was diagnosed just a few months ago. During this time he has undergone several surgeries. One of these surgeries was to implant a pacemaker/defibrillator.

Because of this my classroom desperately needs an AED. This machine is designed to to assess his condition and shock his heart back into rhythm if needed. I also need a set of walkie-talkies. With these, I could keep one on me at all times and one in the office. Our classrooms do not have phones in them. With the walkie-talkies I could radio the office and have them call emergency services in the case of an emergency no matter where we are on campus. These will work if we are at lunch, recess, etc...

This is a very special need. I have been teaching for 9 years and have never had such a critical situation in my classroom. I am very anxious and having this equipment in my room would relieve so much of that anxiety.
